We do more for your musculoskeletal concerns than simply adjust the spine! During your regular 10 to 15 minute appointment, our doctors treat the muscles and other soft tissues with various types of therapies including myofascial release, trigger point therapy, and/or Active Release Therapy (ART) then they mobilize the involved joints.
Activator and pelvic blocking methods are treatment options if spinal adjusting is not indicated or preferred. We work with our patients to determine the best methods of care and work within their level of comfort.
Orthotics are devices worn in your shoes that provide correction and assistance to your feet, helping them function in a more efficient manner. Pressure points, improper rotation of the foot, painful muscle strain, and abnormal forces on the legs, hips and spine are eliminated because orthotics enable your feet to function properly.
Dr. KJ Sveinsson will evaluate the way you walk (gait analysis) and determine if you are a candidate for prescription foot orthotics. The devices are always made from custom precise impressions taken of your feet.
Therapeutic and relaxation massage are available in our clinic. Massage therapy is an integral part of personal care, mental health, injury prevention and your overall health and wellbeing. Massage is the manipulation of the muscles and fascia (connective tissue) using the hands and other tools to release tension and correct improper muscle firing to alleviate pain and correct imbalances in the body. Through a variety of techniques, such as deep tissue massage and trigger point therapy, overactive or injured muscles are encouraged to heal and function properly to allow the musculoskeletal and other body systems to operate optimally. Regular massage creates better, more effective results with each consecutive session.
Acupuncture is a form of traditional Chinese medicine that has been practiced for centuries. It's based on the theory that energy, called chi, flows through and around your body along pathways called meridians.
Acupuncturists believe that illness occurs when something blocks or unbalances your chi. Acupuncture is a way to unblock or influence chi and help it flow back into balance.
Your acupuncture provider will give you an examination and ask questions about your pain and how well you are functioning. She will also ask about your overall health.
During treatment she will quickly tap very thin needles into your skin at certain points on your body. She will probably place several needles. This is done to influence the energy flow. Sometimes heat, pressure, or mild electrical current is used along with needles.
Dr. Gutierrez provides acupuncture in Leduc on Wednesday evenings between 4:45PM and 6:15PM.
She treats a number of conditions and will listen to your concerns and discuss the best options for your care.
